Lovelorn: lovesick.

Lovelorn is a state of unhappiness because the person you love does not love you while lovesick is a state of inability to think clearly or behave in a sensible way because you are in love with somebody, especially somebody who is not in love with you; some people mistake this for heartbreak.
From your own analysis, you have more to offer than the other whom he/she prefers to you. You can foresee pain, disappointment and sorrow in that relationship he/she opted for and you wonder why some people prefer those that deceive them to honest ones like you. In some cases, you suffer inferiority complex especially if your opponent is better than you are socio-economically, academically, morally, etc.
But I tell you, failure is an opportunity to start all over again, this time more intelligently. Note your mistakes and learn from them, be encouraged the more when you lose because you avail yourself of that opportunity to make some corrections. The downfall of a man is not the end of his life and determination is the key to success.
Most importantly, love thrives when the interest is mutual; if you use money, fame, sex of whatever to win one's love, the relationship will be based on that. Just remove pretense and be yourself wherever you find yourself; allow love to take a natural course and you’ll enjoy your relationship while it also serves as a model for others.
